Semi-autonomous soldering robotic arm
The goal was a system that automatically solders predetermined points on an electronic circuit board.
- A Raspberry Pi computes the joint angles for each soldering point and sends them to the robot controller as UDP packets over Ethernet.
- The Mitsubishi industrial arm is programmed with RT Toolbox 3 to move through the received positions.
- A stepper motor (L298N driver) feeds solder wire at each point; LEDs show the system state.
- The solder wire tube and soldering iron holder were designed in SolidWorks.
In the final run the system soldered the target points on a perfboard end to end.
